Message from Chapter President Bruce Heurlin
As President of the Morris K. Udall Inn of Court, I welcome you to renew your membership with our Inn for the 2006-2007 session. As a member of the Inn, you will participate in the American Inns of Court movement that has grown to over several hundred Inns, involving over 20,000 lawyers, judges, and law students. Our limited membership includes law students, recently admitted lawyers, experienced lawyers, law professors and judges from all courts.
The American Inns of Court program was established to promote the highest standards of professionalism and competence within the legal community. It provides an opportunity to share knowledge and experience, promote mentoring, and address important legal issues and ethical issues with the most respected lawyers and judges in our local Bar.
The American Inns of Court website is http://www.innsofcourt.org. Our website is http://www.udallinn.org. Please bookmark these websites as favorites on your computer.
The Inn meets seven times on the first Monday of each month from October through May (except January) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Hotel Congress, at 311 E. Congress. Each meeting includes an educational program and dinner, preceded by an informal, no host bar from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The first Inn meeting will be on Monday, October 2,2006. Subsequent meeting dates will be:
- Monday, November 6,2006
- Monday, December 4,2006
- Monday, February 5,2007
- Monday, March 5,2007
- Tuesday, April 3,2007 (to avoid conflict with the NCAA basketball tournament)
- Monday, May 7,2007.
Please calendar these meetings.
Please send your dues payment of $300.00, payable to Morris K. Udall Inn of Court, by Friday, August 11, 2006, to: Bruce R. Heurlin, KARP HEURLIN WEISS, 3060 North Swan Road, Tucson, Arizona 85712-1225. This dues amount is the same as for our last session. A portion of your dues is tax deductible.
In addition to your dues, our Inn will appreciate your tax-deductible contribution in any amount. As you may know, our Inn operates on a tight budget to limit costs to our members.
Our Inn will improve our website and communicate by email, to provide more information, update current events, and save on costs. One goal is to get members to know other members. One way to do so is to post a brief biographical statement of every member, with a photograph, on the website. To start this process, please include your completed biographical form with your dues payment.
I will email you soon with pupilage assignments.
Your renewed membership in our Inn proves your commitment to promote the highest standards of professionalism and competence in the practice of law.
I look forward to your participation and to seeing you on the first Monday in October.
Please call me if you have any questions about this or any suggestions for our upcoming session.
If you do not want to continue with our Inn, please let me know as soon as possible. Although the Inn will be disappointed, others want to join.
Sincerely,
Bruce R. Heurlin
President, MORRIS K. UDALL INN OF COURT
